Is there any way to make my folders default to “List” view when I open them? Current default (and only one I know) is “Large Icons”. Using “View/Folder Options” doesn’t do it, and I have a lot of folders!
    Many thanks,
    rc

I’ve been asked this ?? many times, but I never put too much effort into totally figuring it out. I do know, 98 will remember the last setting for that window. So, as you
go thru, change the windows and eventually, they’ll all be list. If I do find out, i’ll post it, gimmne a day or two.

Thanks for prompt reply Wolfman, that’s the way I do it now. As you must realize, the process is a tedious one.

I guess I should get a moniker like yours. Well, in high school I was “crusher”!! Will think about it.

      2 ways:
      1) open a folder & set it the way you want. Hold the Ctrl key down & click the x.
      2) open a folder & set it the way you want. Go to View/Folder Options/View tab & press the button that says “Like current folder”.

If you have TweakUI, make sure that you go to the Explorer tab & check “save window settings on exit”. When you’re done setting things up, uncheck that setting.

        Thanks Phil,
Your solution(s) suggest that I must do this folder by folder, right? I.e., it’s the way I do it now.

Phil is right, that should make all your folders the same. So you don’t have to go into every window.

Yes, once only. In fact, don’t keep doing this with different folders. Each time you do this, you end up making folders act like the one you closed, so you may end up changing the defaults back if you’re not careful.
