Can you explain in more detail? Do you want to find and replace text in the footnotes or find and replace footnote references in the main text?

i was wanting to replace the text within the footnote but have found out how now – just was being impatient – I didn’t realise it would go through the whole document and then the footnotes. Out of interest how would you change the reference within the document.

        Thanks for your help

          Hi Boyley:
That depends upon what your trying to replace them with. The symbol in the Find box (of Find/Replace) is ^f. You can also search for anything with the Footnote reference style (Find | Replace box/Format/Style/Footnote reference).
          Cheers,
