FP 2003 Table Properties window too long (Front Page 2003)

Hello,

When making chages to tables and working with the Table properties window, it is simply too long. There is too much space between the area for dealing with cells and the area dealing with borders. Therefore, I have to move the window almost off the top of my screen at the top to get to the buttons at the bottom (i.e. “OK”, “Cancel”, “Apply”. I am attaching a screen shot. You will see by the screen shot that I have the top of the window pulled as high as it will go and I still can’t see the button text. I have a 19″ monitor. Anyone know of a fix for this or am I the only one that has noticed?

You must have your screen resolution set to 800×600. If you increase your screen resolution to at least 1024×768 then you will have no problem with that dialog box. If you really want to stay at 800×600 then set the taskbar to autohide to give a little bit more room.

Thanks for the solution Tony. I had considered both. I’ve been told that to use 1024 X 768 that I can change the font size overall. If that is true, what is the downside and how do I do that?

The main problem with using higher resolutions is that the text is smaller and can become too small to easily read if the resolution is set too high. Standard sized text a 19″ monitor at 1024×768 should be clearly legible. I have a 20″ monitor with resolution set to 1280×1024 with no problems.

You can only change to resolutions that your video card can support but most video cards will be able to support 1024×768.

To change the resolution right click on the desktop and select properties. You can also bring up this dialog box by selecting “Display” from the control panel.
The option to change the screen resolution is on the settings tab.

Hi Tony,

You are obviously much younger than I. Even with my glasses on, I have trouble seeing the text at higher resolutions. I’ve tried several. And by the end of the day (after spending 8-10 hours on the computer, I’m almost blind. Not good. I guess I’ll just have to live with this one window giving me fits. What is frustrating is that there is a perfect open space to close up on that FP window that would have solved the problem. Someone obviously overlooked that.
