    Greetings all,
I’m going to be using Mekons FrameAC to do VB Scripting and VB6 plug-ins for FrameMaker 7 boxedin .
As I’m primarily a Word VBA person (and have never used FrameMaker), I don’t have the ‘comfort’ of knowing how FrameMaker works/ is actually used.
Does anyone know of web sites that may be helpful to a budding Frame (programmer/mutilator) looking for programming examples, tutorials etc?
I’ve done the obvious searchs and haven’t found very much other than commercials.

      Hi Frank,

Your post caught my eye – I got started building templates 11 years ago on FrameMaker (but that was Framemaker 5) – there certainly was no capability to do scripting with FrameMaker back then.

Presumably you’ve already looked at Adobe’s page? – there are links to some development info as well as a link to the FrameMaker community FrameInfo – however it sure doesn’t look like there has been much action there! A Google search on “FrameMaker scripting” does turn up a number of links, some of which look helpful.

[LATER: Actually, a closer look at the search results for FrameMaker scripting indicate that most of the hits refer to FrameScript, which seems to be pretty widely used – there’s quite a lot of info about that. As you already found, there doesn’t seem to be much info around about Mekon’s product, other than on their site – never a good sign! Have you tried contacting them directly, to see what sorts of documentation or training info may be available?]

It would definitely be best to learn as much as possible about the user interface of FrameMaker and what it can do, before attempting to program it. As far as learning the basics of how to use FrameMaker/what it can do, here’s a link to an Amazon search page for books on FrameMaker. Best approach would probably be to get a book or two and set aside some time to work with those. Take some highly-formatted Word documents, and see if you can reproduce them in FrameMaker.

Doing a Google search on “FrameMaker user group” also brings up a number of hits that might be worth exploring further.

      Good luck!

      Gary

        Thanks for the reply Gray,

I’m hitting Google, and every other source that I can think of. Info from Mekon (& everywhere else for that matter is pretty thin). I was hoping to find code samples but I guess that was too much to hope for.

Anyway, you never know what you can find if you don’t look. Again thanks for your reply.
