I like how you pointed out the great philosophy of not fixing what isn’t broken — or, in the exact words of a safety poster we had in the hangar when I was in the Air Force: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” 🙂

BTW, I tried a Google search for that specific poster, which was from the old “BC” comic strip, and got some hilarious results!  It’s worth searching for B.C. safety poster if it ain’t broke don’t fix it (those exact words in bold/italics) and you’ll be amazed at what you find!

Thanks as always for some great and timely freeware recommendations.

Regarding Fix Print Spooler by Sordum.org —

“Disable Spooler Service” simply does what it says. It shuts down the Print Spooler service. I’m assuming this was added so you could remove certain printers’ queues from the Spooler’s folder without affecting other printers’ queues.

Probably that is the intent of this feature in the program. It was published, I assume long before the current security issues with the Windows Print Spooler Service. Being able with a single button-click to disable the Print Spooler Service on a per-PC basis, and then to click another button (or the same button) to enable it again would seem to make accomplishing this task very easy and convenient. If this actually will help with the current security issues, it’s worth its weight in gold even if we use nothing else in this free program.

The Menu option might also get at the Print Spooler Service for the PC.

But as someone who has only too often seen a print job get stuck in the queue, I think this program would find many more uses. Great find!
