I can’t find Reliability Monitor on my Win 7 Home Premium OS. When I right click Computer and click on Manage I get an error stating Application Not Found. It is not in Control Panel, search draws a blank.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba Laptop. When I open the reliability monitor (perfmon /rel) its data ends on 12/15/09! It says there is no data after that date. What might be going on? What can I do to fix this problem? I have problems with this PC on a regular basis.

Did you follow the instructions in the article? Click Start, type

reli

and hit Enter. That should bring it up. Not sure why clicking on Manage brings up Application Not Found – that’d be a good post over in the Win7 forums.

Yes, I did follow the instructions – typing reli brought some suggestions, nothing came close to Reliability Monitor. Using a search engine, I found the Reliability Monitor on my Win 7 machine by following the directions on this site:

Thank you for making me aware of the Reliability Monitor. Now I will use it to see if it will help me discover why Windows Explorer frequently crashes.

I’ve had Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit running on one machine since July, and recently upgraded to the retail release. Over that period, I’ve had some system crashes, although comparatively few. After reading your article, I decided to check the Reliability Monitor to see if there was anything I should be aware of. To my surprise, I had numerous (14) application failures of my preferred browser, Firefox. Upon investigation, the module cited as the reason for most (not all, but overwhelmingly most) of the failures was the Foxit Reader plugin FOXITR~1.OCX. While I work Firefox hard, with many tabs and multiple windows open, nonetheless I show no more than 50% CPU (usually <30%), and generally about half or less of the 4 GB memory that is installed, being used. I wonder if others have experienced Foxit Reader-related failures. To its credit, Firefox reopens the tabs and windows I last had open when I restart it, which is a relief. I like Foxit Reader, but I think I am going a) to shy away from Foxit for the time being and install Adobe Reader, bloat and all, b) bookmark all tabs periodically as a stop-loss, and c) begin prowling the blogs and tech sites for any other cases that have been reported.

I, too, use Foxit Reader. I just double-checked, and I’ll be hanged if that Foxit Reader OCX hasn’t been the cause of my (infrequent) Firefox crashes.

I just went over to the Foxit site, downloaded and will install the latest version, 3.1.4.1125 . (Installation’s a pain because of the eBay and Ask.com junkware defaults.)

Will let you know if it starts crashing, too.

I have the Dummies book. My problem is that the Rel. Monitor shows only May 13 to June 2.
How can I switch it back on ?
