I have been copying tabular data from an .asp based website into an Excel 2000 spreadsheet. When I paste into the sheet I get, along with the data, a symbol that apparently indicates that javascript is embedded. I can open an editor and delete the actual javascript code but I can’t get the symbol to go away. (Well, I can save the sheet in a format that doesn’t support JS but that’s a nuisance.) If I use paste special, I lose all the formatting. Anyone know an easy way to get rid of the unwanted code and symbol?

I believe that you can do a double-pass on paste special
Once with values and once with formatting

Edited to add another thought here grin

Or, you could just paste first, then paste values over the top
