Delighted to discover that God Mode works in Windows 10. I just found some notes I made for Win7 (years old) and set up a shortcut. It works!

Create a shortcut

Set the target to     C:\GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

You get easy, grouped menu acces to over 200 Windows settings and functions.

I’d forgotten about God Mode since Windows 10. Thanks for the tip. It works fine and is useful when I don’t know/can’t recall the name of a tool or setting because my memory is not what it was when I was younger.

But it isn’t listed now in the Control Panel or Start Menu. I think it was in the earlier versions of Windows. I rarely look at my Windows wallpaper and I have showing icons there disabled. Maybe it isn’t appearing in Start as I use Start 10…

Hmm…it’s now in the Start Menu and I haven’t rebooted or anything so not sure why it wasn’t there earlier. I did try to put it in the Start Menu and also in Quick Launch menu earlier but it didn’t appear in either. Oh well, it is in Start Menu now and that is what matters. 🙂

God mode has to be enabled.  It’s not in the control panel although when enabled the icon shows the Control Panel icon.

To enable God Mode in Windows 10:

1) Make sure your system account has administrative privileges
2) Right-click on the Windows 10 desktop and choose New > Folder
3) Name the folder: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} and hit enter/return to make it stick.

The real hilarity was what happened if you tried to add a folder for Windows 7 godmode on the desktop of Windows Vista, but of course nobody will ever have need to try that again.. just to see if it works.. and then not realise it ought to be removed before reboot..

(be prepared to remove said folder in recovery options; the result isn’t pretty or manageable.. mentioned now as what might be a YKW on Vista isn’t quite news now..)
