Guide for Windows Update Settings for Windows 10
Is this GP Edit applicable to W11 23H2? Or is there further more definitive information?

I take it that you’re referring to AKB2000016?

Yes I am. Thanks for the reply.

The most pertinent parts of that AKB are posts 2275038 for those on the Home edition because it has registry entries that will need to be changed to help control Windows Update, 2275043 for those on the Professional edition because it deals with Group Policy settings that will need to be changed to help control Windows Update (Group Policy isn’t generally available or fully functional within the Home editions of Windows) and 2286499 to help you stay on your current version (23H2, for example) of Windows.

Please bear in mind that since these were written for Windows 10, some of the settings in Group Policy or keys in the registry may be non-existent or located in a slightly different location. If you have any questions about not being able to find things, post back here and we’ll let you know what’s where.

The settings are not in the same place, and many are are not the same between Win10 and Win11. You can look at the settings in Win10 (screenshots at the bottom of AKB2000016) and look for similar settings in Win11 in the same general area of Group Policy.

You shouldn’t make Registry setting changes if you are not familiar with Registry editing, as you can cause serious problems with wrong entries.

Many thanks for the reply. I understand and never fiddle in the Registry. To dumb to do it but smart enough to leave it well alone.

Make a note of the path to all the changes you make in GP, so you can un-set them if they cause a problem.
