    Hi,

I got this email from Microsoft : Your Granular admin relationship with Tech Data expires soon. Starting on August 21, 2024, your MLT_d5c77776_0ada9142_7dd49ebb Granular admin relationship with Tech Data will end.

I have no idea what it’s about ! Does anybody know what it means ?

Hopefully you didn’t use any links provided in it, to find out more? My first thought is fishing and/or mal-ware. So go slow.

No, I did not click any link. The thing is I don’t know what they’re talking about. Microsoft Partners ? Whatever ? I’m a translator (english to french) who works at home by myself. I have a Microsoft account but never use it. The message looks legit though. Very strange !Microsoft-message

Granular admin is a role in Microsoft Partners, for business. They do expire… but go to Microsoft partners directly, if you do have a relationship with them.

Like I said, I don’t have a relationship with Microsoft Partners. I bought a ESU licence when support for Windows 7 stopped, but that’s it, and that was years ago.

That’s probably what prompted this email…things that were set up so that you could use the ESU license you got from the provider.

One of the items that had to be provided was an email address from what I recall seeing when I mulled over the decision to go or not go with ESU support for Windows 7.

      As others state.

If you are receiving any licenses through volume licensing or CSP these partners require a delegated permission in your tenant to be allowed assigning licenses to you.

GDAP are the way to go

      DAP should be removed.

GDAP will auto removed after a certain time and that’s your email notifications.

When still in partnership with named CSP Partner they need to renew a GDAP.

      Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/customers/gdap-introduction

The Partner will receive the same email.

Please check in Admin.microsoft.cloud > Settings >Partnerships you do not have old Partnerships especially no longer DAP ones.

Please also make sure GDAP are not global Administrators (same as DAP were unchangeably), but limited to a required role.

I got it and I’m going to reach out to Ted formerly of Harbor Computers now Syscom.  I think it’s because they moved from TechData to another back end vendor.

Do you have a relationship with them?

Did you buy Windows 7 ESU licenses through Amy/Ted by any chance?

Hi Susan ! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, I did buy the ESU licence from Ted, on your recommendation I think. I renewed it the following year before finally switching to Win10.

Ted said “This is because we switched vendors on the back end. I’m surprised they sent these emails out to the customers. So, I would have warned you.”

      It’s Microsoft being Microsoft.

        @sb (Susan) –

Might this be worthy of a note on the homepage?

After all, if Andy got one of those emails, based upon what you posted from Ted I would think that many other AskWoody members will be getting a nearly identical email of their own soon and will have an identical question to Andy’s.

I want to thank everybody who answered my question. I think you solved the mystery. Really appreciate it.

Susan B. and Bob99 solved the mystery. Thanks everybody.
