Many of my programs use active buttons (linked to the old macro language functions) that are grouped together with other objects, as in the attached picture. Almost all the active objects are chosen from the Forms toolbar. This works really well with Excel 2003. For example I can hide or unhide the named group object and the overall group helps users understand what to do. When I’ve attempted to migrate to Excel 2007 such grouped objects are pulled apart, rendering my systems useless. I’m assuming a very useful facility has been withdrawn.
I’d very much appreciate advice on how to achieve the equivalent facility in later versions of Excel, i.e. grouping ordinary objects with active objects into a grouped and named object. I’d also appreciate an explanation of why such a facility has been withdrawn. It does not seem sensible to me.
