    Hi all,
Having inserted a calculated item into a pivot table I find I can’t re-group dates in the row field of the table. I’ve followed the instructions in the Help – ungroup the dates, insert the calculated item, then regroup. When I attempt to regroup I get an error saying “Because this field is grouped you cannot add a calculated item to it.” etc etc. But, the field isn’t grouped and I already added the calculated item….
Any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but you may not be interpreting the help properly. I am not sure if you can group a field with a calculated item. Check the MSKB and see what they say…

        Wassim,
Thanks for your post. In the help for calculated items step 7 says:

“If the items were originally grouped and you ungrouped them in step 1, you can group them again or create new groups that include the calculated item, if you want.”

I do want, but I can’t! I’ve also checked the MSKB, which doesn’t offer any explanation.

        Thanks again

        Graeme
