Grouping Radio Buttons (2000 SR-1)

Pardon me if this has been dealt with before (wish search was active), but I need help working with radio buttons. I have a spreadsheet that has a number of buttons that function as one group (the selection goes to one cell). I want to add a different set of buttons that would output to a different cell, but I don’t know how to do it.

The help file seems to suggest putting the two groups into “group boxes”, but I have been unsuccessful in selecting my original bunch in order to group them. Can someone help me with this?

If you created the radio buttons from the “Forms” toolbar, put each group of radio buttons in its own group box; make sure that the radio buttons are contained entirely (including their labels) within a group box. If you right-click a radio button, you can see its borders; if these are partly outside the group box, the radio button won’t belong to the group box. You can select multiple radio buttons by clicking the “Select Objects” button on the Drawing toolbar; you can then drag a rectangle around a number of radio buttons, or use click and Shift+click.

If you created the radio buttons from the “Control Toolbox”, set the GroupName property to the same name for all radio buttons in one group, and to a different name for all radio buttons in the other group.

OK, I’ve grouped the first lot and then created two more (using Forms). I then grouped the second set, but they still act as if there was one group. In otherwords, when I click an option in the first set, the radio button “darkens” indicating selection. Then, when I click one of the choices in the second set, the selection moves from the first set to the second rather than selecting one option in each group. I am trying to figure what I’ve done wrong.

Are you “grouping” them or are you adding a “Group Box” (from the forms toolbar) around them. You need to use the Group Box and it must totally enclose the entire control to be included.

Ahh, got it. I was trying to group using the drawing tools. When I used the “group box” from the Forms toolbar, it worked.

Did you also check to make sure that the linked cell reference was changed on all the second set of buttons? (Right click > Format Control > Control)
