Can you go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers and get rid of the nonexistant printer. Just right click and delete.

Search, Disk Management. Does the E Drive show up in the Disk Manager. If so, see if you can delete it (If you are absolutely sure it’s gone).

The Drive Is gone. I deleted everything in the hp folder on that drive. Now I cant uninstall hp smart web printing. It is now very annoying. I look at its process and its exporer. I dont want to end that beacause exploroer is a critical process.

Hello!! I thnik I fixed the problem! I just disabled IE 8 and it hasnt popped up. I will give it a couple of days and write back.

What do you mean, you disabled IE 8? How did you disable IE 8? I did not believe this was possible. If you upgraded from IE 7, then you can uninstall IE 8 and revert to IE 7, but I do not know how you can disable IE 8.

Sorry, Ted. that was a typing error. What I meant to say was I disabled All hp IE 8 add ons.

OK, that makes much more sense. The add on was still trying to access something you had deleted. Whew, I thought I had to go back to the help files.

Isn’t it strange, that almost every service call I get, concerning a printer is about an HP?
And, usually it’s not the hardware, but the software. As an old programmer myself, I can say,
“It’s Horrible!”. It must have been written in one of those countries that hate us.

I have several customers who have to keep their HP Install disk handy, because they never know the day or hour when they may have to put it in the drive and reinstall the drivers, etc.

I never have any such problems with Epson printers. I currently have two of them connected to this PC and I never have a moments problem with either. (I actually own five Epson printers)
In fact, my two Epson printers were installed by Win-8, (automatically) without me having to dig out my install disks.
All I did was turn the printer on, and Win-8 set up a compatible driver for it.

In the early days of PC compatible printers, there were just two protocols for printers, , , IBM and Epson.
If the IBM driver wouldn’t work, the Epson driver would.

So my one word solution to HP printer problems, is simply “Epson”.

      Cheers Mates!
