Hiding data in Pivot Tables

Is it possible to select multiple rows to be hidden in Pivot Tables, I have tried all (I believe) combinations of Shift, Alt, and Ctrl, but I cannot hide more than one row per click, which is awfully slow and tedious if there are lots of rows to be hidden.

In Excel 97, right click on the Pivot table, and select Field settings. Then you can see a list box of the fields under the heading Hide Items. You just be highlight the fields you wish to hide, the only limitation being that there must be at least one visible item showing.

Thanks Andrew, what you described is my present method. However if you want to hide say the first 90 out of 100 fields, you have to click on the 90 one at a time. This is tedious. Clicking on row 1 and shift+clicking on row 90 doesn’t select all 90 as happens in most other MS products. I was hoping someone knew a way to do this.

Michael, I am afraid I do not have an answer to your problem as I found this thread while searching for the same answer myself. We need an “uncheck all” button but can’t seem to find it, I guess.

Can I assume you never found a solution to this problem?

Don’t get excited cause I don’t have an answer but would like you to remember me if youo find one. I also looked for a way to know which fields had been hidden, say by myself or a previous user, eithout opening the list box and scrolling up and down to look for shaded rows.

I am attaching a file with some code in a userform which tries to do something like you want. It ahs lists for Visible and Hidden field items and the entries for both can be switched to either state. I have not tested it against a PT with a large number of items, but it might be of some help. It works on PivotTables in the active worksheet, and if there are more than one you can select the one to work with. It is bit rough and ready but if it is useful we can clean it up.
