I was confused at the steps in the recent email by Susan. I would simply like to disable/remove CoPilot off of my Win 10 desktop and my Win 11 laptop both. What are the steps for each of my devices?

Use that registry key.
I screwed up the group policy instructions and will be sending out a revised alert.

AskWoody PlusNovember 28, 2023 at 11:01 am #2606246I found, downloaded, and executed the registry fix in the link you posted here. Now copilot shows up in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARJavaSofPres\slash\navigation\copilot with data showing “(value not set” – will that disable copilot install or do I need to change the value?
Thanks for your assistance.

AskWoody_MVPNovember 28, 2023 at 1:45 pm #2606316Hey Y’all,
I’ve updated my CMsStdSettingsForm.ps1 program to add this setting.
You can download it at my shared OneDrive folder.
Note:
- Please read the comment based help file in the .ps1 file.
- Once you extract the program to your scripts folder you can have powershell show you the help with the command:
Get-Help [d:\path\CMsStdSettingsForm.ps1 -Full - You can also download the PDF file with the MD5 Hashes to all my programs so you can check your download.
Update:
I just re-uploaded (11/28/23 19:50 EST) the files mentioned above. I found that when I’d loaded the program into Visual Studio Code it flagged some variables as never used. Now some of these I knew why it was flagging them because they were referenced by assemblies that are loaded at run time. However, It also flagged one that was not. I looked at it and it seemed it wasn’t needed, however that proved to be untrue when I tested it on another machine. Luckily, I only commented out the 3 instances that VSC flagged so all I had to do was remove the comment marker and all was well again.Moral of the story don’t fully trust any code you didn’t write personally! YES even mine!
