Hi. I set Outlook to startup with the Outlook Today page and the Folder List open. When I right click a folder (e.g. Calendar, Inbox, Task, etc.) on the Folder List and select ‘Open in New Window’, this always opens the selected folder to a new window about 1/3 the size of the monitor. I then have to click on Maximize, which is my preferred window size. How do I set Outlook so that everytime I ‘Open in New Window’ a folder, it opens Maximized already?

Hi, Henry ~

This has worked for me opening a new message, so try this:

• Open the selected folder as you describe
• Close all other Outlook and any Internet Explorer windows
• Maximize your folder window
• Now close the window one of these two ways:
• Click the X in the upper right-hand corner while holding the ‘Ctrl‘ key
• File‘ > ‘Close‘ while holding the ‘Shift‘ key
• Reopen Outlook and try it now
There are instances when windows will not remember maximized windows and if this becomes the case, repeat the same steps but instead of maximizing, merely resize the window as large as you can by dragging the lower right-hand corner.

Hi Bruce. Thank you for posting a reply. I tried your suggestions but it did not work. Thanks anyway.

Henry ~

Make sure you are closing all other windows in IE & OL. The resizing method I described works fine on another machine here with OL2002.

Hi Bruce. It wasn’t working earlier but it is now. Thanks a lot!

Right on! I was hoping you would persevere and succeed.

Do NOT use the button in the upper right to “Maximize your folder window”, but instead “Drag it” to the size you want.
