Quick question on Windows Explorer – a setting got changed on my PC and I can’t remember how to search in Win10 so it searches only the in “current folder” not all “subfolders”

I no longer have the “search” tab displaying in Win Explorer until after I search for something and each time I have to tell it I want to search in “current folder” only.

Is there a quick fix for this?  Thanks.

Making the searches default to current folder only was available in prior versions of Windows, but even the prior registry hack does not work in Windows 10. Sorry I miss it too.

Side note: If you know the name of the file, you don’t have to search to find it or open it. Type the name of the file into the Start Menu search box (that says Type here to search). This will present you with its location and will let you open the file…..no need to open File Explorer to search.

Also _ if you download “FILES’ from MS Store, you can search within specific Windows file categories, e.g., documents, downloads, desktop, etc.

      Thanks – that’s what I thought but I couldn’t remember.
