  Could you send an example file? Why is the edit button blanked out? Is the workbook or worksheet protected?

  If your question relates to adding data to a blank chart like you posted earlier [http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread//156001-***-Simple-Muti-Series-Line-Graph-***%5D, you need to first ADD the series (Y-values) to the chart. Then you can add/edit the categories.

  i did… i right click on the scatterplot with straight line and click ‘select data’ and the ‘edit’ button is still blanked out…..

  Have you added anything to it? You must have something created before you can edit it. If nothing else could you attach a file, demonstrating the problem and walk us through the steps you do?
