I realize this is probably one of the most basics of Powerpoint and I’m embarrassed to ask but I am very, very short on time (about 2 hours) to get this doen and so I don’t have time to look for the answer myself. I have never had this happen and so I have never had a reason before to learn about this.

The problem is that somehow my slides are not connected to the master. I have added animations to the master that I would like to apply to all slides and I can not figure put how to do this. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set sll slides in a presentation to mimic the way the master is setup and if so how?

If I can’t make this happen its not the end for me butu my presentation will look like crap. I just don’t have enough time to manually add the animation to every slide. If the solution requires VBA that’s find. I am very familiar with VBA for the Excel application.

      Ed,

Are you using the Slide Master or the Title Master. If you are using the Tilte Master changes will only effects slides with a Title layout.

        Caria,
Thank you for replying so quickly. I am not well versed in PP and so I don’t know the answer to your question. What I can tell you is that within the menus I goto View->Master->Slide Master and on the silde that appears I have setup some custom animations. When I hover the cursor over the smaller slide image on the left side of the screen the tooltip reads ‘Default Design Slide Master: Used by slide(s) 1-40’. I have checked these slides and they do not use the custom animation that I have set for the master. Does that help answer your question?

          Ed,

Sounds like you have used the correct Master. Sometimes in Master View you will have a master pair where one is a Title Master for slides of a Title layout and one is the Slide Master that applies to all other slides.

I gave a test to apply animations to a few slides through the master in one of the presentations I already had and what momentatily caught me was when I ran the presentation, is if you did not set the animations to run automatically you had to click the mouse to make them happen. This seems pretty simple, but if you have them set to occur with a mouse click you would have to click through them so see them.

I have tested the animations by clicking thru teh sliodes and no animation occurs. When I click everything on the slide appears at once with no entrance animations at all. Any ither ideas? Is there a way via VBA to set all slides equal to the master?

              Ed,

I don’t know if this is something you can do with code, but another solution might be instead of using the master slide, just select all of the slides you want to apply the animations to in normal view using the thumbnails on the left of your screen, then apply them directly to the selected slides. Not a very eligant solution, but as you have some time constraints it might be a fast way to get a result.

              Caria,
hanks for the rpely but I don’t understand how to do what you are saying. I have the view set to normal and I have multi-selected several of the thumbnail slides on the left side of the screen but then what do I do next? The Custom Animation section on the right side has no buttons enabled so how do I apply an animation to a group of slides?

Again thanks very much for replying so quickly.

              Ed,

You would not be abel to create custom animations as each slide will differ in some design respects. You would be able to use the transitions, and animation schemes for all slides. To use the animation schemes, just change your task pane to slide design-animation schemes, or transitions. Again not very elegant but given your time constraint better than no animations at all.
