I have saved Profile from FF 90.02 and have installed FF86. How do I get the saved profile settings into ver 86?

Last few updates have been giving me browser error in Netflix and Amazon Prime Video

Cannot get to profile folder manually using winExplorer.

CAN get to location from within FF “Open Profile file”

I hope these screenshots are placed so as to clarify the poor description of my problem which is essentially how to get saved profile from ver 90 into ver 88. I tried deleting the ‘new’ profile created upon install /open ff 88 but the new FF didn’t recognize the saved profile from ver 90

FWIW, the new install works fine w/ netflix. Perhaps the problem is in the saved profile? Hate to lose changed settings over the years….I think it’s a lost cause.

Chrome works but I do not like that browser.

Curiously, different laptop w/ ff ver 90 Netflix works fine.

Run Firefox again to let it create a new, blank profile folder again. Close Firefox, then using File Explorer, copy the name of the profile folder it created to the clipboard, then delete that folder. Rename or copy the good profile folder to the same name the one you just deleted had. Then go into the profile folder that now has the same name as the one Firefox just created and remove the file compatibility.ini.

After that, Firefox should use your old folder without a problem.

It’s always a good idea to back things up first just in case.

When I installed FF 88, I had it use a custom destination directory. Not sure if this relevant.

But, no app data dir is visible in win explorer…so I cannot drill down to the profile dir. The only way I could get the screen shot showing the path was from within FF.  And I notice profiles from both installed FF versions(88 and 90.02) are located in that location. Strangely enough, on a different laptop with same win bld and  one version FF (90.02) I can drill down with no issues.

        Any further thoughts?

Also, considering I have no issues with the other system as far as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are concerned, I’m thinking there may be something other than Firefox interfering with the video players. I have no other issues w/ any video playback.

Thank you very much for your time and valuable info provided!

edit: Have applied PKano fix so will get to your methodology re: profile insert. Will let you know how it goes, likely tomorrow.

In File Explorer, highlight the folder with your ID on the left. On the “View” tab, on the right side check the box “Hidden items.”
Then look for the AppData folder under your ID.

If that doesn’t get it, in the same location, click on “Options” then “Change folder and search options,” then on the “View” tab, under “Hidden files and folders,” click “Show hidden files, folders or drives” and click Apply
