Is KB5028854 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 4.8 for Windows Server 2016 really needed?

The server in question is just used for shares and a CRM.

I see it is in the master patch list.

I just checked and “Microsoft .NET Host – 6.0.13 (x64) ” in installed on the server.

There are no new security updates in this patch.  You really only need to install if you need to solve the mentioned issue in the KB.

This update addresses a change that affects how you use the X509Certificate,
X509Certificate2 or X509Certificate2Collection

Because so many people were offered up that X509 out of band they were also offered the end of the month one. Ergo why I called it out and gave it the install approval.
