How to find/install the HD Audio driver I blew away

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop (C55-A5126) and during its inagoration I thought I had done something to the audio but new to it did not easily locate what had happened until now.
I see under Sound > Headphones > Properties > Events that the High Definition Audio Device was deleted. Oh! is that why my earphones are good but not getting any sound—DAH!
Looked at the Toshiba sight but could not get the page to display so I could find out if it was RealTek device driver or not.
There are a plethora of sights willing to provide one but which one and with what malware is unknown.
Is the above info enought to find the device (have the HDAudio string which apparently identifies it from the above location). I saw numerous HD Drivers under various numeric IDs but don’t know how to specifically get the correct one.
Can someone help?

Look up your laptop’s audio driver on the Toshiba Support website: http://support.toshiba.com/drivers

Try this.
1. Start > Run, msinfo32
2. Expand Components > Problem Devices.
3. Search the internet for the “PNP Device ID”.
e.g. my audio device is “ven_8086 dev_2807”, making it an Intel chip.

Once you have the VEN & DEV No. – to make the search easier, enter the numbers into and pressing enter http://www.pcidatabase.com/ will give http://www.pcidatabase.com/search.php?device_search_str=2807&device_search=Search

Whereas mine is a Realtek with a VEN & DEV No. of 10EC and 0269 which gives http://www.pcidatabase.com/search.php?device_search_str=0269&device_search=Search where you need to look a little bit closer at the numbers.

Tried Coochin’s suggestion but from the description I got from Windows 8.1 at:
Sound>Headphones>Properties>Events is:
Device HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0269&SUBSYS_1179FA20&REV_10014&2DFD6C82&0&0001 was deleted.

Class Guid: {4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
is what I had inadvertently removed.

And I could not see/find anything at the Toshiba site but a RealTek Audio device Version: 6.0.1.7023 which does not seem to match what the system is providing.

I don’t install drivers everyday (tho of late wifi drivers have been haunting me) so maybe I am not recognizing the obvious.
Does this info help in seeing my consternation?

Tried SUDO15’s suggestion but got:

0x026C | Realtek HD Audio Driver | 0x10DE | NVIDIA

I believe this is a software that was removed not a chip.

Hope I got that this wifi keeps dropping me.

Is Realtek HD Audio. Download & install it from the Toshiba support webpage for your laptop’s model.

Entering that VEN & DEV into the PCI Database should have given you what my second link in Post #4 gave.

You have to line up the device with the Vendor ID.

Yours is the same as mine for my Toshiba Win 7 and I download the second one down for my 64 bit OS from http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Those are dated 25th June 2015 so could be more up to date than what the Toshiba site has, but you could still start with the one from Toshiba.

Actually I worked on a customer’s Acer laptop early this week that had lost sound and downloaded/installed the latest Realtek HD Audio driver from Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false. The installer was v2.79 dated 2015.6.25 for Vista, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, and Win10.
