I have dowload and update from the Windows update catalog and when I double click on it, it opens a small window that says “looking for updates
on this computer” but it never ends !!! So what should I do, how does it works ?

AskWoody LoungerOctober 25, 2016 at 9:20 am #1582608You didn’t understand my problem. I don’t have any problem with windows update, it is working fine.
My problem is when I want to install manually an update dowloaded from the MS update catalog.
I double click on the .msu file and it doesn’t install (message: “looking for updates on this computer” last
for ever.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 26, 2016 at 3:24 am #1582650I had that problem as well and had to use WSUS Offline Update which resolved my Win 7 update problems and they’ve been trouble free since.
While you say you don’t have an update problem, what does a manual check for updates do for you ?
If you require this particular update then you would normally get it through Windows Update, but when you try to download one from the Catalog, it has to check if you already have it and in which it seems to get stuck.
I also had this happen when downloading/running the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT).
