      Did you install the OS from a DVD and do you still have it? Or was it a download? Is the install Activated without warnings/issues?

      A note: The first update to the installed OS makes it no longer the original version, has made changes to it.

        Then that is your original version. You can look in a couple of places, one is the System icon in Control Panel or hold down the Windows key and press the R, type winver in the box, see what you get.

      Hi BERTON,

      Think you for your help;

      can you explain more “hold down the Windows key and press the R, type winver in the box, see what you get.”.

        The key combination brings up the Run dialog box where one can enter various commands to obtain information or run an action. Some of those actions/commands don’t have have icons/shortcuts, just helps get into the nuts and bolts of Windows which a number of users don’t really need.

      Berton is correct. The WinVer command will contain information on any Service Packs installed if they are present. If they are absent then you have the original Windows Server 2008 R2.

      Thus:

      Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

      Means original Windows Server 2008 R2.

      Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600: Service Pack 1]

      Means it has been updated as indicated.
