Hi there,

thankfully, Susan has published two Registry hacks to keep Windows 10 from updating to Windows 11.

My question is:

How do I prevent Windows 8.1 Professional from updating to Windows 11?

I remember I had to actively block Windows 8.1 Pro to prevent an update to Windows 10. But that was ages ago.

Any ideas?

I’ve not seen any reports that 8.1 will be offered 11.

If you have a Windows 10 PC that’s eligible for the upgrade, Windows Update will let you know via the Windows Update Settings page when it’s available. We expect all eligible Windows 10 devices to be offered the upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.

You can clean install Windows 11 directly (wiping all apps and data).

OK, but I already mentioned that here five months ago; so today’s question seemed to be about an upgrade (keeping apps and data).
