We have a criticial issue with Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 Free and willing to pay an honorarium for a solution. We regularly perform full (not incremental) backups to DVDs skipping only OS Auxilary files which Paragon describes as “files like pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys, etc”. The system is Win XP Pro SP3 with all current updates installed and uses Outlook Express 6 for the mail client. The mail database is saved in its default location of C:Documents and Settings%userid%Local SettingsApplication DataIdentities%uid%MicrosoftOutlook Express*.dbx files.
The mail database was corrupted and most of it lost when Outlook Express automatically performed a normal maintenance function to compact the files. The mail contains critical documents such as legal contracts, correspondance, financial spreadsheets, … you get the idea.
I have been trying to restore the Outlook Express directory from the Paragon Backup DVDs for three days with no success. It seems the menu selections to perform the restore – Archives > Restore from the selected archive – and – Archive > Restore file from archive – are greyed out and cannot be selected no matter what I try. I should note this is under the Advanced user interface not the Express Mode.
The backup DVDs, there are 7 for each backup, contain multiple compressed files of approx. 512,000 Kb each, and there is no apparant way to list the contents.
The Paragon documentation is focused on performing backups and restores to a dedicated hard drive partition or network drive. There is little to no doc about restoring individual files or folders from DVDs. Any help will be greatly appreciated and a small honorarium is not out of the question for a successful solution. Thanks to all in advance.
