• How to tell last MS patch date?

    Hi there.

I have a small problem I am hoping you guys can help me with. from time to time, I need to find out when an XP machine received its last Microsoft patch. Unfortunately, to save space in backups, some of my colleagues insist on deleting the folders with names like “$NtUninstallKB957201$” and the files with names like “KB957201.log”. If these files / folders have been deleted, is there any other way of knowing WHEN the last patch was received? knowing the patch name or KB article name doesn’t tell me when it was installed, which is what I am after.

Can any of you help please? This is my first post and it would be great to solve this annoying little problem.

    Many Thanks,

    Eddie.

Two places that might help, though I think they don’t indicate when a patch was recieved but rather when it was applied. One is to go to Windows Update (Start>>All Programs>>Windows Update) and in the left margin is Review your update history option. The other is in Add or Remove Programs, tic the Show updates at the top and all the updates are shown with the installed on date.

      right-click My Computer – Manage
      browse the system eventlog
