I have been searching on how to uninstall an update which was installed in error, and have been unable to find instructions on how to perform this action. (Example the KB2952664 which was installed months and months ago before it became apparent that it was a problem). Any and all guidance will be most appreciated!

AskWoody LoungerJuly 12, 2018 at 6:58 pm #203183Well the usual way is go to Win7 windows update page/window near the bottom left there’s an option to remove updates, select, then choose the update and right click, remove. However if it wont remove you could always try this: https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/2000009-getting-out-of-a-no-boot-situation-after-installing-windows-updates/#post-166617 Bearing in mind some updates cant be uninstalled but I fairly sure kb2952664 (Win7 Snoop) can be, or used to be easy to take out. Hope that works for ya.

AskWoody MVPJuly 12, 2018 at 9:02 pm #203204Hello Walker!
Thought I’d add pictures to the instructions, to make it easier:
Go to Windows UpdateAt the bottom left, click ‘Installed Updates’
It should say
with all of your installed updates listed below. Sometimes it takes a minute for them to show up in full.
Enter the update you are looking for into the search box, at the top right. You can use copy/paste there, if it is easier.
If you want to uninstall KB2952664, click on it, and it will highlight and give an option to uninstall. Click on that, and it should uninstall. I’m thinking you should reboot after that, and check again, because KB2952664 may have installed multiple times, and each one has to be uninstalled before you are finally clear. It might feel like it will never go away, but at least this is one that will eventually disappear… but you will have to hide it each time it is re-issued, if you want to keep it off your system. There are a few updates that will not uninstall… but most will. You can check for all the telemetry updates with the search box.
I may not be correct about needing the reboot… maybe someone who knows can chime in?

AskWoody LoungerJuly 13, 2018 at 7:26 am #203310@Elly & BobbyB: Thank you both for your replies! I have Windows 7 x64, Group A, forgot to mention that, however I think you’re both referring to Windows 7. I may not have the opportunity today to try this, however I definitely will utilize your invaluable information, and say “THANK YOU” very, very much for the information, and for sharing it with everyone!
