• HTML Code from Word 2019

    My website creation program lets me add HTML code directly onto my web page. It does so by showing me a window into which I can enter HTML code. When I publish my site, whatever I entered in that window appears on my site.

    I’ve forgotten how I did this in Word 2010, but I imagine it can be done in Word 2019.

    How can I produce HTML source code in Word, in a form that I can plug into the little window of my website creation program?

    Some of the existing code looks like this:

    <html>

    <head>
    <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content=”text/html; charset=windows-1252″>
    <meta name=Generator content=”Microsoft Word 14 (filtered)”>
    <base target=”_parent”>
    <title>Suppliers</title>
    <style>
    <!–
    /* Font Definitions */
    @font-face
    {font-family:Verdana;
    panose-1:2 11 6 4 3 5 … et cetera

      I have had a little success by saving my Word document as a Web Page, Filtered then opening it in Chrome and using View Page Source.

      That gives me some HTML code that I can plug into my web creation software.

      But the result on the web page is all run together and has no character formatting.

      Original Word file is attached.

      Learn to write your own HTML; it will probably be cleaner and tighter than anything generated by software. There are many resources out there for writing, testing, and verifying HTML code.

      There is a huge amount of HTML to be written here, and it is constantly being changed/updated. It’s totally impractical to write my own code for this. I just need to get back to the forgotten way this used to work for me.

      Knowing what code to use from a section is not easy without a good understanding of both the code in your page and from the update.

      You could try an online editor instead which can handle Word data. (https://html-online.com/editor/)

      Thanks, fellows! These things might be my solutions. It will take me a week or so to check them out.

      An example of the results from the past is at http://www.amr1.org/supporting.htm

      Click anywhere in the colorful table and press CTRL+U to view the page source. There are fairly frequent changes to this very long table.

      I am in need of completely re-doing the table.

      Once again, I recall that I put this into HTML directly from Word 2010, using an “insert HTML” tool from my very old web site building software (CUTE Site Builder). The details are forgotten.

      Is there someone who worked with you while doing the site that might remember, or any files you created or notes that might help you remember?  As a first step, see if you have a computer with Word 2010 since it could be more familiar.

      This site checks for errors in HTML code from URL or file:
      https://validator.w3.org/

      Please consider using it to check your code validity.
