    Hello,

I miss the lower right side button on Win7 that took you right to the work-space window.
On Win8.1, when we look for the Work-space, the Charms Bar covers it most of the time.

Are there any such similar replacement buttons for Win8.1?

    Any help is welcome.

    Regards,
    Flores

Try pressing [Winkey][D], (“D” for “D”esktop) once or twice.

(“Winkey” is the key with the Windows logo on it).

        Hello SpywareDr,

        That simple? Good.
        Thanks a lot,

The button isn’t visible, but the active spot is still in the same place. The charms bar slides out, but it doesn’t affect the “hotspot”. Just left-click, and the uncluttered desktop appears. You don’t even have to check the box in the graphic that strollin posted.

I have a new Dell transformer – laptop/tablet running 8.1. I love it and tried to stay pure Windows. But it was just too frustrating, so I looked for a “Start button” utility. And it was an easy search.

Start-X has a free and a PRO (pay) version. The free version is wonderful, always forever free, and does not nag to upgrade. The developer made a great contribution to the Windows community by making this version available free. Download and install instantly – ninite.com.

I assume you mean Start Menu X (http://www.startmenux.com/index.html ). No connection to Ninte.com.

Also of note: Win7 has a vertical bar [rather faint] at the extreme right end of the Taskbar, moving the mouse over it turns the open programs transparent so the icons behind them can be seen, called Peek. Clicking that vertical bar minimizes the programs, clicking again restores them if nothing else has been done since the minimize. Win8.1 and Win10 TP has similar but a very small area for clicking at the extreme right end of the Taskbar, may see only a light bar when putting the mouse over it or clicking there.

Before you wonder "Am I doing things right," ask "Am I doing the right things?"
