AskWoody LoungerFebruary 23, 2012 at 6:33 pm #1321551Going down a different road,
There is Nothing that can show up on my screen that I cannot capture and save, using a little free program called “Photo Filtre”
(yes, I spelled it correctly…..It’s French)I capture my screen with the “Print Screen” key on the keyboard.
Then open PF from an icon in my Quick Launch toolbar and “paste image as new”, the image I just saved from the screen.
Then I outline the part I want to save using my mouse, right click on it and CROP off the rest.
Then I can save the resulting image.
The whole process takes me less than 15 seconds to complete.I shared Photo Filtre with an 86 year old man today and he was elated, that he could finally make a copy of anything he sees on his monitor screen. Or he can now pull up an old photo, and crop it and even add contrast for a sharper, clearer picture.
PF will do things for FREE, that are only available in programs costing several hundreds of dollars. For me, I refuse to set up any PC without it.
It even works great on Windows 8/DP.Just a thought

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 23, 2012 at 8:57 pm #1321585Hi ,
I use PowerPoint Image Extractor http://alainlecomte.free.fr/Download.htm#PPImageExtractor freeIf you want to pay $20 for what does essentially the same thing , go here:
http://www.sobolsoft.com/pptimage/Back to free stuff 🙂
Softmaker Office 2008 http://www.softmakeroffice.com/ (smaller than either OO or LO below)
Contains Presentations module (similar to PowerPoint)Of course there’s LibreOffice http://www.libreoffice.org/
But the office suites are overkill for what you want to do.Depending on which version of M$ PowerPoint Viewer you use, you can r-c the picture ,select copy and then paste it into Paint or other graphics editor and save
in the format you want.Pete E.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 24, 2012 at 4:00 am #1321613If you are using Windows 7 or Vista you can use Snipimage…
Like I said above, I use Open Office Impress because I get the FULL picture file size and can edit it after if I need to for size etc..
With the other options mentioned, including my Snipimage suggestion, you are stuck with the file size they use and quality may suffer depending on what use you are going to use the pic for.

However since this is a Win XP forum you wouldn’t have Snipimage but I’ve found that Snippy (found here) is a great add on for XP … I use it all the time for bits of screen captures. It’s pretty much the same as the snip program I have in my Vista at home.
