I am looking at possibly switching browsers.  I know that I can add bookmarks, but is there a way in chrome to add, say, file or folder icons to the right of the address bar for quick access?

You can add any file, folder, or drive on your PC as a bookmark (link) and you can add the icon of that link to Chrome’s Home Page; but you can’t add a icon to the right of the address bar. You can add that link to the Bookmarks Bar which will keep the link at the top of the browser.

FYI: A link to a file type that Chrome doesn’t handle (such as a Word document) will not open that file, but will open a File Explorer window to access and open the file with the default app for that file.  File types that Chrome can handle (photos, txt, pdf, etc.) will open in Chrome on a new tab, but not in the default app for that file type so you will not be able to edit it.

      Chuck,
Like Drcard:)) said, you can’t add icons to the right of the address bar, BUT if you display the bookmarks bar just below it, you can make things convenient in small amount of space by a “mix & match” of single icons and folders.
