    HI

I’m having a problem displaying any webpages in my browser.

Basically what happens is I log on (thru a dial up connection) and once connected IE shows in the status bar that the page is loading but then it show it’s “Done” but there is only a blank page.

I’ve noticed that during the initial loading the following message appears in the status line:
    C:wimdowsystem
    shdoclcdnserror.htm

I have tried loading other sites but with the same effect.

I have a Pentium Celeron 466 with 128 mg ram running Windows 98.
I recently loaded a web accelerator program but uninstalled it a few days later.

    Any suggestions

DNS problems can have a lot of causes, from bad settings from your ISP to a server being down. And the third party software could have changed your settings.

By default, dial-up networking is configured to let your ISP push DNS server information to you during log on. If you open My Computer, Dial-Up Networking, and right click the connection icon you use, then select the second tab and check under TCP/IP, it should look mostly like the attached. If it does, or if you use a different dialer program, I think your ISP is the next stop.

Hey great screen capture and notation!

Do you have a package that does all this in one, if so can you tell what, or do you drop the screen shots into a second one to work on?

Actually I use the PrintScreen key (or Alt-PrintScreen for dialogs) and Windows (98) Paint. Its main weakness is that everything you add is laid into one layer as bits. But since MS added Save As… JPEG, and it’s free, it’s really quite convenient for this kind of thing.

I’m at work at the moment so I’ll give your suggestion a try when I get home later
