I’m having a problem with my IE 6 back button. It only goes to the page that IE first opened with. Also, the arrow next to the back button only shows the first page.
The History button shows all pages visited, but I don’t want to search my history just to go back to the page I was just on.

This happened after installing the Java update #19, but I uninstalled the update and it’s still happening.

      I can’t remember IE6 very well.

Does this happen only on a particular site? Does it involve frames (in a framed site, usually the URL in the address bar does not change as you move through pages)?

It happens all the time, all sites. Whatever I open IE to, that is the only page that the back button will go to, even after having it open for hours and going to dozens of pages. If I simply open IE and go to my home page, that’s what the back button will go to. If I have clicked on a link in an email, IE opens to that page, and that’s the only site that the back button holds.
It’s very frustrating when you hit the back button expecting to just go to your last page, and instead go all the way back to the first page you opened.

I don’t know what the solution is, but it looks like your History items are not being properly saved. Check your History button after going to a few different web pages, and post back if anything — or nothing — is listed.

The history button shows everywhere I’ve been, and I can go back to a particular page using the history button. But the back button only shows the first page, and when I hit the back button, it only goes back to the first page, even after a full day of surfing.
This happened after installing the latest java update. I’ve already uninstalled that update, but no change.
