    greetings to one and all!
i have what is to me, at least, a serious problem, and don’t know what to do about it. i just finally gave in and upgraded my trusty IE5.5 to IE6, as i was getting tired of that silly critical update screen popping up every time i logged on. what i didn’t realize was that it also affected my e-mail. i use Outlook Express for most of my e-mail (my ISP is verizon on-line DSL). when i upgraded, it changed everything, and did something very nasty and sneaky sneaky , too. it took all the e-mails that i had in the folders, mostly in the inbox folder, that had attachments, and stripped away the attachments. they all have this message on them: “OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail: FW: ” , then all i get is an empty screen, with the e-mail header on it, and that’s it. in other words, i have lost all the e-mail that anyone has sent me for the last two months. i even tried forwarding something to myself that i KNOW is clean, and got the same message. how in His name can i stop this from happening? a great many of my friends like to send me pictures and jokes that have been sent on to them, and i don’t want this to keep happening. i do have another e-mail address, but it has taken me almost two months to get people to use THIS one, and i don’t want to spend another two months retraining them. if i had known that the upgrade was going to be this much of a problem, i would not have done it. can anyone help me before i get any more e-mail? i also just installed Norton Internet Security, which has Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall, too. don’t know if that makes any difference or not, but i thought you might like to know. thanks so very much. i am completely at a loss here. i will be out of town for a week and a half starting monday, and i don’t want my husband to have to try to fix this, or worse, get frustrated and take a hammer to the computer. is it possible to uninstall IE6 and go back to IE5.5? is that an option? if not, please, throw me some sort of a line here; i feel as though i am drowning. i know it probably sounds kinda melodramatic to all y’all, but i am a real newbie when it comes to these beasties, and i only want to get it right. now that i have driven you a bit nuts with my pleas and crying, i shall say goodnight to you. thanks so very much for your help. i really appreciate it. until the next time, take care and God bless.
    smiles-
    ladyleadfoot!!!
