AskWoody LoungerFebruary 19, 2019 at 8:04 am #329181… I would point out that the metric as written is rather oversimplified… cannot possibly be generalizable between simple 1-level networks and complex networks with multiple security tiers just like that.
But, yes, this is the kind of threat that the various “network intrusion detection”, “automatic intercept” and such tools are designed against… those are gaining popularity too, it seems.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 19, 2019 at 1:17 pm #329327I’m a big fan of Crowdstrike. Their tools are awesome. They continually update their Falcon platform and come out with new ways to protect your system. Our company are happy customers of their products. However, for most home users their software would be overkill and a bit expensive.

AskWoody_MVPFebruary 19, 2019 at 3:45 pm #329431Question: where is US or Israel on the list? I know they won’t report their own, but curious how they rank.
That’s what I wondered too. Are we to believe NSA & GCHQ are so good that they haven’t been caught often enough to generate data?
Israel, France & Pakistan should also feature, I would’ve thought.
Lugh.

MemberFebruary 19, 2019 at 10:59 pm #329489This is a very informative thread on an gradually worsening situation: the ever-spreading weaponization, by nation-states, of malware and techniques for stealing state and industrial secrets, destroying or corrupting vital information data bases and for disrupting the ever more computer-driven critical infrastructure of a country, its financial institutions, its communication networks and, as increasingly is the case, its political life.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 20, 2019 at 10:33 am #329637Strange: I explained in more detail, inevitably a political statement, what Crowdstrike is about and my comment gets deleted. Others here state that countries like the US, Israel, France, Pakistan, and organisations like GCHQ and the NSA, should also have been mentioned in the report, and those comments do not get deleted, even though they are political statements too.
I am clueless as to how “Da Boss”, or his representatives, make these judgments. Will even this comment of mine get deleted?

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 20, 2019 at 11:22 am #329668I see. In other words, the article as published here, incl. the cartoon, is not provocative, nor are the comments above naming various countries, and government organisations that are notorious for their nefarious activities. So why was the article published on this forum in the 1st place, and not on the other forum? That, in & of itself, is provocative. You are using double standards, Woody, and that’s a pity.
