    Hi,

Recently I’ve needed to print emails received in HTML format that have data in the message.

However when I print the email, only what appears to be a placeholder is printed.
This issue has only occurred over the past few months, have done a search on forum & Google but have had no luck.
I’m assuming that it is a security setting somewhere, but can’t locate the fix.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Neville

I’m not sure what you mean by “data in the message.” Is it simply part of the text of the page or is it part of an image, an external page retrieved using an , or displayed through an ActiveX control (e.g., an Office -related widget or the Flash player)?

Using a print style sheet, a sender can create a completely different layout for printing compared with screen viewing, including suppressing elements completely. However, unless the sender doesn’t want you to print the message, this might not be relevant.

If the message is not sensitive, you could right-click it and choose View Source, then save that to a .txt file, zip it, and upload it here for analysis.

If the message is sensitive, you could search in the source for the data that doesn’t print and look at the surrounding tags to see whether there is anything odd about them.

What happens if you forward the message to a webmail account (e.g., Yahoo! Mail, GMail, Hotmail) — will it print correctly from there?

        Hi Jefferson,

Recently I’ve been sent emails that have had an image? with data that I needed to print & keep but the image/data no longer prints with the message (best I could do was a screen capture to a jpg & print from this).

Have attached a pdf from a recent email, the source txt file & a pdf of the message that I printed after I forwarded it to gmail (it printed as it should).
My guess is that there is a setting somewhere that is blocking the image from being printed with the email message.
I’ve only started having this problem over the past couple of months.

        Neville

        Thanks Hans

You can only add one attachment to a post, but that can be a zip file containing multiple files, as long as the size of the zip file is less than 100 KB.

Somehow I missed the subject line on your message the first time. You clearly said images, so sorry about that.

Outlook 2003 usually uses Internet Explorer as its print engine for HTML messages. If you use Word to view email, then the following probably is irrelevant.

Outlook might have problems with attachments and images when its cache folder becomes too full. To find and empty the cache you can try this.

          Start > Run > cmd

cd "C:Documents and SettingsYourUserNameLocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files"
          dir /ad

You’re looking for a folder whose name starts with OL. You can cd into that folder and clear it using —

          del /f filespec

          — /f is needed because some items will be marked read-only.
