I run Outlook 98 on Dell PCs using WINNT 4.0 at office and home andOutlook 2000 under Windows 2000 on a Toshiba laptop. Periodically, I want to copy my contact file at the office to the other two computers. I have exported Contacts both to Excel and to a CSV file. Neither can be imported into either of the other two machines because of a translator problem. While I have set up views, there are no custom fields. Any fixes would be greatly appreciated.

AskWoody LoungerMay 18, 2001 at 8:59 pm #1783555Stupid question, but have you verified the header information being exported is the same as the header information need to be imported on the other computer ??
I have WINNT (W/OL98) at work and Windows 98SE (W/OL2000) at home. One “Trick” I used was to import the contacts from OL98 into Outlook Express 5. Copied the Outlook Express 5 file to home computer. I then imported from Outlook express 5 into OL2000. Not the cleanest way to go, but it did work.
Hope this helps.

GuestMay 29, 2001 at 11:53 pm #1783893Thanks for responding. It’s not a stupid question, and I have not had a chance to check the swquence of field between Outlook 98 and 2000, which contributes to my delay in responding. It would not have been great for MS to change these, however, and it would not account for my inability to import contacts from my office PC to my home PC, both of which run Outlook 98 under WINNT 4.0. So, I’m still at a loss.

AskWoody LoungerMay 30, 2001 at 12:06 am #1783894We have had similar problems with Outlook 98 here at work. We found that the map fields options is not available when importing with Outlook 98. There is a patch available for it which will then give you the option to custom map your fields. See http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar…s/Q182/7/28.ASP
Hope this helps. It solved our problems.Viewing 1 reply thread -
