Importing tasks with correct dates (2002)

Hi,
I have a Project file of about 300 tasks, with task dates starting in September. I want to import this into another “master project file”, which contains about 1000 tasks. The “master project file” is a project which started in June. So, when I import the 300-task project into the master file, it shifts all of the dates to the June start date. All of them are changed – and they’re all wrong.
I guess it does this because the tasks are all defined as Start “as soon as possible”.

How do I import this project and force the dates to stay the same? (Or, at a minimum, the dates which have no dependencies but are shown as starting in September).

Did you try setting the first date of the imported project that drives all other dates as a must start on constraint prior to importing it?

Yes, I did this and it worked for all tasks which didn’t have predecessors. Other tasks still moved to the wrong start date.

In the end, I had to set a “must start on” constraint on the 1st task, then set a “start no sooner than” constraint on all of the other tasks which did not have predecessors. A bit of a pain, but it worked.
