My pc is a high-end Dell about 2 years old.  Chrome has always worked well, as far as I can tell, and I’ve kept it (as well as its cousins on three other pcs – 3 running Win 10 and one Win 11) up to date – especially recently with all the emergency updates.

Only on this pc has Chrome developed a block to my activity:  It now tells me that my Chrome is “managed by your organization”.  A web search tells me that there were many with this problem several years ago.  I’ve tried some tips, but the linked utilities were not available.

How can I return this instance to my control.  I am a home user, not associated with any organization.

The “managed by your organization” message indicates there is a Group Policy setting (if you have Win Pro) or a Registry setting (for Home or Pro) that is the cause of the error. Consider any of these setting you have changed and see if it pertains to web connections/search, etc.

If the message is a link, clicking on it may give you some indication where the setting is.

I’ve been noticing this for some time now on Firefox.  It appears in Settings –

I get that because I set up a policy to stop the nagging update reminders. The policy was set in
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox
Might be worth a look to see if anything’s there.

I’m not using Firefox – just Chrome, although occasionally Edge.

This is what I get when I click on “Your browser is being managed by your organization” which is also a link.  I have to admit I don’t have a clue what they’re referring to.  I’m a home user and don’t even have a LAN.

          The extensions I have are Last Pass; Capital One and Honey “lower cost search” utilities;

MalwareBytes (paid version); Metamask; and Zoom Scheduler.

I have nothing related to your 2nd statement.

What plug ins do you have installed?

On both Win 7 and Linux Mint:

          FFPlugins
          FF-Extensions

@Charlie – Are you seeing the message “Your browser is being managed by your organization on your Win 7 or your Linux Mint computer? In Settings I see the same thing you’re seeing on my Mint machine; I also see “Updates disabled by your system administrator” when I select About Firefox from the Help menu. I’m pretty sure these messages started showing up a couple months ago when Mint decided to get FF updates from Mozilla instead of the updates first going through Ubuntu and then to Mint.

I have no Win7 or Linus Mint usage anywhere.

I get it on both Win 7 and LM.  Both versions are FF 101, but have been doing this for a long time with no ill affects.

Sorry globalist, I’m trying to help, not interfere.  Hope you understand, I’d like to know what this thing is too.    🙂
