Intel’s Driver and Support Assistant (DSA) is taking up almost 10 GB of disk space in it’s “Intel Driver and Support Assistant” directory in my Document folder.

These appear to be downloaded distribution files. I don’t see how or why they’re needed after the update is installed.

Is it safe to just delete these files or do I need to do something else?

Yes, I’m on the latest version of DSA and Windows 10 (but not 2H20).

    TIA

      That’s not the default location:

By default, the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant places downloaded drivers in C:\ProgramData\Intel\DSA\Downloads.

FAQ: In what folder does the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant place the downloaded drivers?

But it’s most unlikely that DSA or Windows would depend on anything in your Documents.

You can try to see if the Driver & Support Assistant tool will complain about missing files. Temporarily copy the contents to another directory, and then in your documents folder keep only the most recent files for this month

It may good for you to create a personal driver archive.

Just to add, I have the latest Intel Driver and Support Assistant and there is no mention of it anywhere in my Documents folder. It’s in Program files (86) under Intel and is 10.3 MB in size. I originally downloaded it to my downloads folder and in the DSA folder there is a list of all the updates it has performed but it isn’t a huge amount of space used, 1.6 GB.

Not sure how yours got put into Documents unless that is where you originally downloaded the install file. I’m also not sure why yours is so large (10 GB)

Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does 🙂
