Is it possible to have more than one computer (on a network) that acts as the internet connection sharing host?
We have three networked computers all of which have 56k modems. 98SE on one, ME on another and XP on the third. They sometimes are all turned on or are all combinations of on and off. It would make some sense to be able to connect any computer to the internet either through its own modem if the others are not turned on or through internet connection sharing if one of the others is turned on and connected.
Any help and how-to would be most apporeciated.

Why not use a router? That way all three are independently hooked to the internet through the router. You have your cable modium then your router then cable to each computer. Easest solution.

By the sounds of it, that isn’t an option for surveyor1. This lounger states each computer has a 56K modem… no mention of a cable modem.
