I am a new Windows 10 1909 user.  Just upgraded from Windows 7 which I already miss so much!  My question (and I am sure I will have many more to come) is there a way to check the pending updates in Windows 10.  If so, how?  Thank you.

You can download wushowhide.diagcab from Microsoft. Place it in a comvenient location (desktop?). Double click to run it, choose “Advanced” then uncheck the box to make the changes automatically.
The section on “Hide Updates” will show you available updates you can hide.
      You can also unhide them.

In WU, if you set defer QUALITY updates = 0 and have Group Policy Automatic updates set Enabled, value=2, the updates will show up in the WU queue but won’t download until you click “download.” See previous links.

Whatever you do, don’t click “Check for updates” which = download and install now.

If you have W10 home you can’t to the group policy stuff, instead set the network connection to “metered”. This prevents update download until you OK it.

      cheers, Paul

If it’s the Windows 7 interface that you miss, as I did, try Open Shell.  It used to be called Classic Shell, which is now no longer supported.  You should be able to restore a familiar look-and-feel to your desktop.
