 I have a book that I am scanning into electronic format & editing in Word 2013. Does anyone know whether it is possible to ‘find & replace’ all the : softbreaks & optional hyphen’s?
Ultimately I am wanting to delete all softbreaks & optional hyphen’s.

      Robko,

It’s possible but it all depends on how the OCR software codes it…ah there’s the rub!

Thanks for responding RetiredGeek – I will give this a try tonight.
If it is remotely possible, you don’t explain what steps to take.

It’s possible to use a macro do such clean-up work. See, for example: http://www.msofficeforums.com/word/12371-how-release-hard-returns.html#post32907 . Although you refer to ‘softbreaks’, I take it you mean the paragraph breaks (i.e. the ones that look like ¶) OCR software might insert at the end of every line. The macro caters for those (and hyphens). If your software inserts manual line breaks (i.e. the ones that look like ↵), the macro could be tweaked to handle those too.

OK, thanks – I’ll give it a try over the weekend.
