I just saw this tweet from Zac Bowden: https://twitter.com/zacbowden/status/977870317027807233 Sure enough, on all of my 1803 test machines, in Edge,

This obviously is a new “feature” which is entirely in line with Microsoft’s “Only move forward and never go back” strategy for Windows and all Microsoft programs.

All joking aside, have you tried using Edge’s Back button to see if Edge will load previously visited URLs?

‘For Windows Insiders in the Skip Ahead ring, we will begin testing a change where links clicked on within the Windows Mail app will open in Microsoft Edge, which provides the best, most secure and consistent experience on Windows 10 and across your devices.’

Has this been implemented into W10 1803 woody?

As for the drop-down URL box, have you tried ‘wiggling’ the mouse…

      I’ll get my coat 🙂

Now that there is funny.   Have been using Thunderbird for years for my mail and when I click on a link in there, it opens up in Firefox (or whatever browser is set as the current default).  I feel secure with that.

That must have been on a low priority fix list, why did that take so long? Did they have to write an new bits (or chunks) of frame work code?

I also notice they are desperate enough to include an Edge advertisement to their audience; Now there is some apparent evidence about Windows 10 being marketing driven product.

Looks like there’s a lag… not faster than IE 11 at all, huh? Better try Firefox or Chrome… 😉

Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.

Is Win10 1803 ready for prime time? Edge doesn’t think so

Seems like a strange yardstick to choose for 1803 readiness when you continually tell us that no one uses Edge anyway.

      • #178160

Yeah, but they really desire people to use Edge (IE).

      • #178325

        A strange yardstick? Hardly.

Edge is THE default browser in 10. And as mentioned previously on here (many times), Microsoft really, really, really wants you to use Edge, so much so that they’ll hard-code applications to use that browser for links.

If the core application in a flagship product has issues, I’d say that’s a problem. How much of a problem it is depends on your usage habits and your willingness to put up with early-adopter bugs. The point is that Microsoft’s QA reeks. A bug like that this close to release says a lot.

While Edge is not that bad (my wife uses it at her Win10 tablet as the only browser, I’ve used it on W10M and it was OK), Mail is probably the worst e-mail client I’ve ever come across, so I see your point. I wouldn’t bother too much myself.

1803 with a none or poorly functioning Edge eh? No surprise there, all the other versions had Edge in a similar state. 😉

    • #178174

I think 1803 will be delayed,  everything is screaming that it will be delayed.

By today last year people knew when was  1703 going to be released and even its official name. (announced officially by Microsoft, not the leaks we know)

Just someone who don't want Windows to mess with its computer.

Do all of the other Address Bar functions work to make it still usable? If you were using ‘S’ mode, and the address bar functions did not work then this might be an issue. By the way the same dropdown menu failure also happened to using Firefox some years ago. 🙂

Edge has been developed for three years and has never been included with Windows Server (i.e. 2016) because Edge gets frequent updates and Server doesn’t: Microsoft Edge requirements

I spend time with it every day for work and play.

Just saw this article about 1803 on ghacks.  I think I am a bit concerned about this one…

Microsoft broke “disable web search” in Windows 10 version 1803
