        I have a problem with askwoody logging me out every couple of weeks.

        I’m going to take a stab at this and say that the cookie(s) that keep you (and all of the rest of us on an individual basis for that matter) logged in probably have a finite life span, and that’s why you’re seeing yourself being logged out every couple of weeks due to their having expired. Either that or a privacy-enhancing app that you may be using is deleting the cookie(s) after that amount of time as part of what it does, perhaps.

          I have a logging-out problem, too. Do you have any suggestions on what can be done about the life-span of the cookie(s) that log me out. I use Firefox, latest version.

          I don’t use FF’s privacy window.

            @WCHS

            Your answer lies in Susan’s post directly below here in the first sentence of her post. That’s why I thanked her.

            Because of that concept, I’m afraid you’ll have to keep doing what you’ve been doing all along…re-logging in every so often. I don’t stay logged in, I log out when I leave here and log back in whenever I return, so I haven’t experienced the cookie issue.

            <Thread hijack> BUT, I do remember when one could go into the cookie collection stored by Firefox and see the details/contents of each cookie and when its’ expiration date was. If that were still possible, you could then see when the cookies that were set would expire and you’d then know that you’d have to log back in after that date and time.</Thread hijack>

              Hi @Bob99;

              So as to not hijack this thread, I’ve posted a question about this for you <here>.

        Websites based on wordpress notoriously don’t hold cookies well.  I recommend using a password manager program and not using the browser to store passwords either.

      I don’t save passwords in my Chrome browser nor use a password manager.
      It is probably a cookie problem.

        When you have financial sites that mandate changing passwords every 90 days, you have to use a password manager process of some sort.  There’s no way to keep up and it slows me down to write them down in a book.

      Regardless of any WordPress-related issues, I’d vote to shorten the cookie expiration. I’m looking at it from the perspective of AskWoody’s security – open cookies are potentially a threat vector.

      My personal usage, which is moderately inconvenient because I’m on this site every day, is never to set “keep me logged in.” There are a few exceptions, but AskWoody is not one of them.

      I’m not having a cookie issue – but since I renewed on March 18, I am having a renewal issue. My Plus status has been removed and I can’t access any Plus newsletters or the Patch List. On any page, it still says Plus member in my profile box, but also a note saying:

      Our records show that you’re not receiving the AskWoody Plus Newsletter or Alerts at . You may be receiving Newsletters at a different email address, in which case no action is needed on your part. If you aren’t receiving any Newsletters, I can run down the cause if you send your username to CustomerSupport@AskWoody.com.

      I have only ever had one email address, and have always gotten newsletter,  but since this issue, I didn’t get a Plus newsletter today.

      When I just posted in another discussion, I was only listed as a Lounger – not a Plus member – but I should be based on the fact that I renewed my Plus subscription which is in effect till March 25, 2025.

      AW

      Hope this can be corrected soon.

        That’s a different problem and normally occurs when the subscription settings have been cancelled so there’s a disconnect between the email engine and the subscription.  Let me get you back in sync.

      Hi,

      I am a ‘Plus Member but just recently the Ask Woody News Letters / Alerts have stopped arriving and I’m now receiving the Free version instead. I can access stuff by going to the website and logging in but I don’t get the automatic Plus Member emails / alerts / bulletins.
      Please investigate and reactivate the Plus Member facility for me to receive the Alerts and Bulletins, etc.
      Thank you and best regards, Gordon.

    • #2656412

      Not getting Ask Woody Plus Member bulletins , alerts, etc by email any more.
      I get the Free edition instead. What’s gone wrong.
      Plus I had to type this in as copy / paste just came out all gobbledy-gook.
      Please can you fix the Plus Member auto email issue.
      Thank you.
      G.

        Looks like you copied it in from word?  I’ll investigate.

        Can you look in your spam filter as I show the newsletter was emailed to you?
