Hi. The link to the text of the column goes to a 404 page. If I copy the text of the hyperlink, it also goes to a 404 page.

Also, as with others I’m wondering about recommendations on KB2515325 and KB2529073 which are offered on Windows 7 systems (32-bit too, not just 64-bit as suggested in an earlier thread). I do appreciate the other recommendations though!

Your column got me thinking about the last update, since in XP/SP3 it shows as an Office 2007 security patch. I remember now that after the uninstall of Office 2007 S&H and install of 2010 S&H I still had an Office 12 (2007) folder with several PowerPoint-related files, mainly PP Viewer. There don’t appear to be any PP Viewer files in 2010. Why didn’t Microsoft get rid of the latter and include everything in the 2010 folder?

I watch your column with great interest but have never really needed to avoid any updates until recently when my PC wouldn’t install the automatic updates. Thankfully there is some “Rollback” feature in Windows 7 that when an update install fails on reboot, it sidesteps the install and continues to boot up without it. After this type of failure, I go up to Windows update, review your article (comparing the scheduled updates to the update info in your list) and then deselect and hide the offending updates.
