I experienced both services permission and missing .dll issues while installing the current iTunes update. I ran the installation program as administrator on my Vista. There is a lot of activity on the Apple discussion boards about problems with some commenting that the same problems occurred in 2010. The issues are occurring on all Windows OSs from XP to Windows 7. The main problems I experienced and discussions are located at:

    1. During installation, warning pops up that the installer could not access services because of administration privileges. Given option to cancel installation, retry or ignore. (I ignored, and the installation proceeded, but failed.)

    2. Apple Mobile Device Service fail to start:

    3. iTunes won’t start after installation because MSVCR80.dll not found:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24605191#24605191

    4. APSDaemon.exe fails to start because MSVCR80.dll not found

    5. iCloudServices.exe won’t start because “entry point not found – entry point_objc_image could not be located in objc.dll library”

    Solutions:
    Services error:
First, temporarily disable any anti-virus programs.
    1) When installing, I right-clicked on iTunes64Setup.exe, and chose “Run as administrator”
    2) I still received the error message, but chose to ignore. I tunes then launched.
    3) click the Windows start button (the windows logo on the screen). Right-click on “Computer” and choose “Manage”
    4) Click on “Services and Applications”
    5) Click on “Services”
    6) Find the “Apple Mobile Device” Service from the list, and double-click on it
    7) For startup type, choose “Automatic”, then click on “Start”
    8) Close iTunes, and re-open it.
    9) Enable your anti-virus program again.

If this does not help, then do the following:

    >XXX.exe programs and/or MSVCR80.dll errors

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later Windows OS)
Remove all of these items in the following order (I did iTunes last):
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Oh, and by the way, I uninstalled the defective iTunes using Revo Uninstaller. It found 316 registry items that the Apple iTunes uninstaller missed. None of the other four Apple programs had any items left over in the registry.
