This utility for Widnows needs .NET Framework but will insure a clean install of the new version.Chrome for Windows upgrade can indeed zap tabs if more than nine are open at the time of relaunch. I do in fact use bookmarks, even History to make sure nothing bad happens. If I get advance warning (thanks, Woody!) I can simply save and close the current tabs (as Bookmarks or Export History — may need an Extension for the latter) and then hit About Chrome on the “hamburger icon”. I like to do browser upgrades with no unnecessary tabs or extensions active, because you never know.
In my tests, Chrome 41 on Windows (and Linux) is stable and as fast as Chrome 40. No major glitches noticed yet. And it comes with Pepper Flash 16.0.0.305 already installed.
Much smoother in both OSes than my Firefox 35 to 36 upgrade experiences.

GuestMarch 6, 2015 at 5:22 pm #51688I use the Chrome extension FreshStart (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/freshstart-cross-browser/nmidkjogcjnnlfimjcedenagjfacpobb) to deal with disappearing tabs. It has what it calls Crash Recovery which has saved my bacon several times. Just set the option ‘On’ and it does the job.
